Day one covers the State Capitol tour (free, book ahead), the New York State Museum at the south end of the Empire State Plaza, and dinner on Lark Street in Center Square. Add a third night if you want to fold in Troy — the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market runs Saturdays year-round and the Hudson Valley scene along River Street is worth an afternoon.
